Magic Hands: Discovering Green in Kinder 4! 🎨✨
Today in our classroom, we had a magical, hands-on science and art exploration! We set out a long sheet of crisp white paper across our art station and invited the children to become mini-color scientists.
First, we painted one of each child’s hands with bright yellow paint and the other hand with vibrant blue paint. Their eyes lit up with excitement seeing the two distinct colors!
Then came the favorite part: we asked the children to rub their hands together while we all chanted together:
"Rub, rub, mix them clean—yellow and blue make..."
As they rubbed their hands together, we asked them to describe the transformation happening right in front of their eyes. It was wonderful listening to their excitement as they shouted, "Look, it’s turning into green!" and "It’s magic!" Seeing color theory come to life in real-time through a sensory experience was so much fun.
To capture our colorful discovery, each child proudly stamped their newly painted green hands onto our long white paper, creating a beautiful banner of bright handprints!
Be sure to ask your little artist about their color-mixing adventure today. They’ll love telling you how two simple colors came together to create something brand new!
